Session 12: Final Exam
Reading Skills
National Literary Braille Competency Test

Directions: We have produced, in simulated braille, the hardcopy braille included in the print version of the National Literary Braille Competency Test. The braille includes the embedded instructions, which instruct you to circle the errors. We include this to provide you with practice in preparing for taking this national exam. The actual text begins at "In high school". You should read the simbraille carefully, make notes of errors in brailling, and describe those errors in the text boxes provided at the bottom of the page. You may choose whatever words you like to report the errors you find. There are 25 boxes, which may or may not correspond to the actual number of errors!

You do not have to finish this section all at one time. You can save the file, log off, come back later and restore the file. Once you have completed the reading section , you can then submit the file to the instructors for their evaluation.

To save your file, you have to provide a file name. In order to ensure that your file does not erase someone else's file, we want you to use this method of naming (and restoring) files. For this session, you should use the first part of your email address, immediately followed by the abbreviation "s12" for Session 12. For example, if your email is "bsmith@aol.com", you should use the name "bsmiths3" for this file name. Please do not save your files with clever names like "braille".

While we have provided you with the capability to save your work, come back later and work on it some more, you should remember that you will not have this luxury with the actual test. The reading part of the test occurs in one sitting!
