  • Radicals

    Radicals: The symbol is called a radical sign. A vinculum, or horizontal bar, is generally used with the radical sign to show the extent to which the radical sign applies. The expression under the radical sign is called a radicand. A figure placed to the left and slightly above the radical sign is called the indexof the radical.
